Welcome to Wingville Charities!
WHO WE ARE
2001 Wingville was originally conceived by Jeff Coleman and Ricky Showalter. The idea was to celebrate hot wings and have as much fun as possible. Not only has the fun succeeded, it has become bigger than ever imagined.
Our parties, known as Wingnites, were simply friends and neighbors gathering to eat hot wings & watch sports. Then came the summer of 2002, which was the debut of the Wingville table. The table - built by neighbors Andy Puffer and Sheldon Brutlag - gave Wingnites a focal point and made them mobile. That year we suffered a loss when Jerry Langland passed away, survived by his wife and two young daughters. During a fall Wingnite, we took up a collection and delivered it to Jerry’s widow. It was then that we began to see the potential for Wingville. While the dreams were big, we felt that no matter where Wingville led us, we knew our future would consist of helping others in need.
2002 Wingville became involved with a charitable effort assisting needy families at Christmas that Jim had already been involved with for many years. Since then, Wingnites have grown to host several more charity events, dozens of other parties - even a version of “Wingnite” at bars.
2013 Near the end of the year, we decided to take Wingville to the next level.
2014 Andy, Matt, and Jim founded the non-profit charitable organization Wingville Charities.
TO DATE Wingville Charities is now focused on big picture charitable goals, and all proceeds benefit a vast array of individuals and community organizations that need our support. Our motto is to put the “fun” in fundraising, one event at a time.
Over the years there have been countless people who have participated in our parties and events. We thank them all and recognize that without them, none of this would have been possible. Thank you all for your diligence and support.
Hearts for Hannah
Hearts for Hannah was the first organized foundation assisted by the group at Wingville. As a young child, Hannah was diagnosed with a neuroblastoma - a rare form of cancer. After a considerable treatment period, Hannah is now cancer free.
Fundraiser for Ryan Syzpura
Ryan Syzpura is the son of our friend Chuck. When Ryan was 7 years old, he was diagnosed with an abdominal cancer. The news was received just 3 weeks before the big summer party. Through a determined effort made by the group at Wingville Charities, we were able to provide Chuck with over $3500. After a long period of treatment, Ryan is also doing well.
Kure for Kara
In 2013, Wingville Charities held two parties to aid the effort known as Kure for Kara. Months earlier, Kara was diagnosed with breast cancer. The parties were quite successful and a nice donation was presented to Kara and her family.
.5K Fun Run
In 2015 and 2016, the Wingville Charities .5K Fun Run raised funds for the Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) foundation and collected a truck full of commissary items for the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans in Wheaton, Illinois.
Christmas 2002 - present
Every Christmas, we sponsor a family in need - providing them with gifts including, toys, clothing, household items, and food. The goal is to assist them through a difficult time and provide them with a Christmas that they would not have otherwise enjoyed.
Kane County Chronicle - Summer Tourney Article
